Furry goofball and 3 Chickens in Opawa, Christchurch date_range 30 Aug 2026 - 7 Sep 2026(1 week 1 night) my_location Christchurch - Canterbury - Christchurch Our home We live in the suburb of Opawa, close to the Heathcote River and the Port Hills. It's a great place to go out walking or biking in the hills. Also easy to get into the centre of Christchurch and on 2 bus routes. We have a 4 bedroom house and large garden. favorite What we love about our area Its a beautiful location in Christchurch to wander along the river or in the nearby hills. Close to the city center, easy to drive, bike or bus in. We have 1 furry goofball dog (Zena) that needs 2 walks and 2 feeds per day. She can be very excitable at the start of a walk (she barks a lot and can pull quite hard on lead ) but usually calms quickly. She was a rescue dog. She can be anxious around other dogs so we ask housesitters to keep her on lead. She is used to me working from home and popping in and out all day so this won't suit someone who is out all day but she can be left 4-6 hours after a walk. We have 3 chickens who are easy care, they need a daily check in, water top up and egg collection (in Spring - Autumn). local_florist Garden or plant care About us We are a family of 5. Mum, Dad and 3 boys. EZTIZEN & IKER (Apr 2026 - 1 week 2 nights) We had a wonderful time looking after the house, the dog and the chickens. The house was lovely: comfortable, well-equipped and a real pleasure to stay in.Zena was brilliant: friendly, polite and a real pleasure to spend time with. The chickens were easy to look after and added a special touch to the whole experience.Overall, everything went very well and we enjoyed it immensely; we’d be delighted to return. Highly recommended! I didn't need to ask many questions as the document provided covered all the essentials! The dog, Zena, is a gentle giant. Very warm and comfortable house. It was particularly convenient having a lovely river walk right out the back-gate. I would definitely house-sit for Hannah and Tony again. House Pet Communication SARAH (Jan 2024 - 1 week 5 nights) We had a lovely stay at Hannah's place. What a great location for exploring the port hills!Zena definitely missed her family, but she made do with us whilst they were away. With regular walks and stimulation around the house she did well. She could get quite excitable/wound up at the beginning of her walks - this would pass after a little while walking. The chickens were very entertaining and were in the midst of broody season. They were easy to care for. House Pet Communication We had a lovely time at Hannah and Tony’s home, looking after Zena, warrior princess :-)We were very thankful to be able to stay in the sleepout a couple of nights each side of the housesit too. Zena is a big playful dog, a little boisterous at times lol but great fun.Communication was easy with helpful notes about the house and Zena. Thanks again for the fantastic stay. House Pet Communication MICHAL (Apr 2023 - 1 week) We had great time. The dogs were wonderful and easy. Nala is an older lady and Zena is quite agile and playful and ready to learn some trick. She loves a good run. And jandals too :)The house was spacious, clean and very comfy. In a great location, right next to a park and close to shops and restaurants.Hannah and her husband are very friendly. Communication was fast and easy.
