The Role Winstone Wallboards, home of GIB® plasterboard, is looking for a motivated Mechanical Apprentice to join our Tauranga Maintenance team. This is an outstanding opportunity to earn while you learn, gain hands‑on experience in a large manufacturing environment, and work towards becoming a qualified Maintenance Fitter. Reporting to the Mechanical Maintenance Manager, you’ll support the maintenance team in keeping our plant running safely and efficiently. Your role will include: Assisting with preventative and breakdown maintenance on plant and equipment Supporting planned maintenance shutdowns Learning fault‑finding and problem‑solving techniques Maintaining accurate maintenance records through MEX work orders Ensuring workshop tools and equipment are maintained and stored correctly Working safely and actively contributing to our strong safety culture Completing all apprenticeship training and study requirements while applying your learning on site. About You Minimum NCEA L2 or a pre-trade qualification (preferred) Have a genuine interest in mechanical engineering and maintenance Enjoy problem‑solving and working with their hands Bring a strong work ethic and positive attitude Communicate well and enjoy working as part of a team Are eager to learn, adaptable and resilient.
