Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners – Wellington Central, North Island The Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners (the College) is a membership organisation and a medical college that provides post-graduate training for doctors wanting to specialise in general practice and rural hospital medicine. Our 80+ operational staff support our 6,000 members with an aim to improve health outcomes and reduce health inequities. About the role As the College’s digital capability grows, so does the need to deliver with confidence. The Quality Automation Engineer owns the test automation function within the engineering team — ensuring that what gets built is reliable, secure, and works as intended before it reaches staff and members. This is a hands‑on engineering role. You design and build automated test suites, embed quality gates into CI/CD pipelines, and work shoulder‑to‑shoulder with Engineers and the Technical Delivery Specialist to catch issues early and keep delivery velocity high. You are not a separate QA function reviewing work after the fact — you are an active member of the engineering team who makes quality everyone’s responsibility by building the scaffolding that supports it. You bring a strong technical foundation, a systematic approach to finding failure modes, and genuine pride in the reliability of what the team ships. You are also curious about how AI‑assisted testing tools are evolving and apply them practically to improve coverage and efficiency. What you’ll do Design, develop and maintain automated test suites across unit, integration, end-to-end and regression testing to ensure reliable, high‑quality software delivery Implement and optimise quality controls within CI/CD pipelines, ensuring automated testing and quality gates are embedded into every build and deployment Select, apply and continually improve testing frameworks, tools and approaches, choosing the right solution for each context rather than relying on a single methodology Provide visibility of quality and risk through test coverage reporting, quality metrics, defect analysis and delivery assurance reporting Conduct exploratory, risk‑based, API and integration testing, validating business‑critical workflows across CRM, LMS, SharePoint and member‑facing platforms Support security, performance and resilience testing, working with Engineers to identify, mitigate and remediate quality, security and scalability risks Leverage AI‑enabled testing practices to improve test generation, regression analysis, test data creation and quality engineering efficiency while maintaining privacy, security and quality standards Champion a quality‑first engineering culture by collaborating with Engineers, Product and Delivery teams, contributing to planning and design activities, and maintaining clear testing strategies, documentation and continuous improvement practices What you’ll bring Proven experience designing and building automated test suites across unit, integration, and end‑to‑end testing contexts Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and experience embedding automated testing and quality gates into build and deployment workflows Solid scripting and coding ability — you write test code that is clean, maintainable, and treated with the same rigour as production code Experience with API testing and validating integration behaviour across connected systems Experience using approved AI‑enabled tools (e.g., Microsoft 365 Copilot) to improve efficiency and quality of day‑to‑day outputs (drafting, summarising, analysis), in line with relevant privacy, security, and responsible AI requirements Work from home up to two days per week Wellbeing initiatives such as flu vaccines, fruit, stand up desks,birthday leave, extra days of gifted leave during Christmas closedown period, and an annualcash contribution for you to spend on activities or items thatbenefityour wellbeing (paid quarterly) Great office environment– a proper coffee machine,daily quiz, active social committeeandbook club, regular social events and a modern,lightand bright office that overlooks the harbour Our commitment to equity and diversity We want our Collegeteam to reflect the diversity of Aotearoa New Zealand and the communities that our people serve and work in.We acknowledge the impacts of inequitable health systems and care on Māori astangatawhenua, and on other groups, and are addressing these as part of our strategic direction.Applicants withadditionalskills intereoand tikanga Māori and experience in working in Māori contexts are most welcome.
