Electrician

About the Role As an Electrician, you'll play an important role in keeping Lyttelton Port operating safely and efficiently. Working as part of our Maintenance team, you'll carry out planned and reactive maintenance, fault finding, repairs and project work across a wide range of electrical assets, including port infrastructure, lighting, security systems and high-voltage distribution equipment. This is a varied, hands‑on role where no two days are the same. You'll work closely with operational teams to minimise downtime, maintain critical assets and support the safe, reliable operation of one of New Zealand's busiest ports. Following your induction, you'll join a shift roster to provide maintenance support across our 24/7 operation. The shift roster currently operates on a 10-week repeating cycle with a mix of day, afternoon and night shifts. What sets you apart You're a registered Industrial Electrician who enjoys working in a practical, fast‑paced environment and takes pride in delivering quality workmanship. You can prioritise competing tasks, communicate effectively with a range of people and work equally well independently or as part of a team. Most importantly, you’re committed to working safely and providing a high level of service to your customers and colleagues. Industrial electrical maintenance experience, with PLC exposure an advantage. A current New Zealand Electrical Practising Licence and a full Class 1 Driver Licence. Experience working safely at heights, in confined spaces and around water, along with good computer literacy and exposure to preventative maintenance systems.
