Te Haeata/The Opportunity Provide the strategic thinking that shapes Policy Group's delivery. We're looking for a permanent Principal Advisor, Planning and Assurance to lead the work programme of our Strategic Planning and Assurance Unit, bringing together planning, prioritisation, performance, risk, and assurance to give the Deputy Secretary and Policy Leadership Team a genuine whole-of-group view. You'll lead the Ministry's coordinated responses to Waitangi Tribunal inquiries, working at pace with Ministers' offices and Crown agencies on complex, sensitive issues, and you'll coach and mentor others in the Unit along the way. You'll also contribute to embedding stewardship across regulatory systems. If you've got strong strategic thinking, genuine depth in Treaty of Waitangi/Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Māori-Crown relationships, and the judgement to translate the bigger picture into delivery for senior audiences, we want to hear from you. A relevant tertiary qualification (or equivalent experience), advanced written and verbal communication skills, and the right to work in New Zealand are essential.
