This role is responsible for ensuring the accurate, compliant and timely clearance of import and export cargo through New Zealand Customs Service (NZCS), Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) and other regulatory agencies, while delivering exceptional service to customers and internal stakeholders. The role requires deep expertise in New Zealand Customs legislation, Trade Single Window (TSW), border agency requirements and international forwarding operations. Some of the key responsibilities and accountabilities: Customs Brokerage & Regulatory Compliance Preparation and management of import, export and transhipment declarations through Trade Single Window (TSW). Maintenance / utilisation of valid NZ Customs UUI/PIN for Customs declaration processing Ensuring all declarations comply with Customs and Excise Act, Customs and Excise Regulations, Trade Single Window requirements, MPI Biosecurity requirements, and Relevant international trade agreements. Advising customers on import and export regulatory requirements, permits, licences and documentation. Management of Customs and MPI queries, interventions, inspections and audits. Freight Forwarding Operations Coordinating international sea freight, air freight, courier and multimodal shipments. Management of bookings with carriers, airlines, shipping lines and freight partners. Coordinating origin and destination activities to ensure seamless cargo movement. Monitoring shipment milestones and proactively address delays or disruptions. Managing cargo documentation including Bills of Lading, Air Waybills, Commercial Invoices Preparation of quotations and service proposals Ensuring accurate shipment costing and profitability. Verification of supplier invoices and charges. Ensuring timely customer invoicing. The successful applicant will have at least 10 years’ experience in Customs Brokerage, Freight Forwarding, International Logistics, or Import/Export Operations. He/she will also hold a valid New Zealand Customs UUI/PIN (Unique User Identifier) authorising Import and Export declaration lodgements, a valid New Zealand Customs Declarant Code, and a full NZ driver’s licence. Advanced experience in CargoWise is preferred. You must have the legal right to work full-time in New Zealand to be considered for this position.
