Senior Heavy Diesel Mechanic

McPherson Contractors Ltd is a family-owned civil and rural contracting business operating throughout the Waikato and Bay of Plenty. With a modern fleet of machinery (primarily John Deere and Komatsu) and a reputation for quality workmanship, we're looking for an experienced Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join our team. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys diagnosing faults, carrying out major repairs, and taking ownership of maintaining a diverse fleet of equipment. About the Role You will be responsible for servicing, maintaining, and repairing a wide range of plant and machinery, both in the workshop and in the field. A key focus of this role will be undertaking major mechanical repairs and rebuilds, particularly on agricultural and earthmoving equipment. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience working on John Deere tractors, although experience with other major brands of tractors will also be considered. What We're Looking For Proven experience as a Heavy Diesel Mechanic. Strong diagnostic and fault-finding abilities. Experience carrying out major repairs, engine work, and component rebuilds. Experience working on tractors, with John Deere experience highly regarded. The ability to work independently and manage their own workload. A positive attitude and willingness to support and mentor less experienced team members. A commitment to maintaining high standards of workmanship, safety, and housekeeping.
