Cloud Engineer

ABOUT THE ROLE We are seeking an experienced Cloud Engineer with strong leadership and solution design capability to join a large enterprise organisation in Wellington. In this role, you will bridge the gap between cloud architecture and hands-on engineering, taking ownership of design and automated delivery across Azure, AWS, and on-premise environments. You will play a pivotal role in driving continuous delivery, cloud infrastructure management, and DevOps best practices. This long-term contract offers an exceptional opportunity to influence enterprise-scale cloud capability, leveraging advanced automation, hybrid networking, and modern orchestration tools. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Bridge architecture and engineering by owning solution design across Azure and AWS platforms. Deliver robust Infrastructure-as-Code utilising Terraform to drive automated deployment and scalability. Manage complex cloud networking, integration, identity, and security across hybrid environments. Optimise CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or GitLab. Drive continuous operational improvements and provide expert troubleshooting for enterprise cloud services. Contribute to on-call support rosters ensuring high availability and system performance. SKILLS & EXPERIENCE 5+ years as a Cloud Engineer with strong Linux and Windows management experience. Deep expertise in Azure (including Virtual WAN) and AWS cloud infrastructure solutions. Proven hands-on mastery of Terraform for Infrastructure-as-Code delivery in production. Solid experience with Kubernetes environments (EKS, AKS, ARO, or OpenShift) is preferred. Strong scripting abilities in Python, PowerShell, or Shell to drive enterprise automation.
