About the Role We are seeking a Digital Development Engineer to help design and deliver machine-to-cloud digital solutions for our powder packing systems. This is a hands-on, execution-focused role at the intersection of industrial automation, IIoT, data engineering, and applied analytics. You will work directly with real machines, real data, and real customer environments - transforming production data into actionable insights that improve machine performance, reliability, and customer experience. You will play a key role in bridging the gap between our traditional engineering capability and digital innovation, contributing directly to how our products evolve and how customers experience them. What You’ll Be Doing Design, implement and maintain backend systems and digital applications Implement and maintain standardized machine data interfaces in Siemens and Rockwell PLC environments Configure IIoT connectivity and edge devices, ensuring secure data flow Process and analyse large industrial datasets (time-series data) Work with large datasets and identify meaningful signals or features Apply data techniques such as trend analysis, clustering, and inference Deliver dashboards, insights, and analytics used by customers on the shopfloor Ensure secure deployment of edge, connectivity, and cloud solutions using secure-by-design principles Identify opportunities to improve machine performance using data Participate in customer meetings, site visits, and commissioning activities Support deployment and early-stage operation of digital solutions Work closely with Automation, IT/OT, Engineering, and Sales teams Contribute to the evolution of GEA’s digital solutions and system architecture Recommend improvements to systems, tools, and technologies Support the integration of new digital capabilities into existing equipment About You You are a practical, technically curious engineer who enjoys working close to machines and turning data into meaningful outcomes. 3-5 years’ experience in IIoT, industrial automation, or digital engineering environments Experience with machine data interfaces to PLCs (Siemens and Rockwell) Exposure to IIoT, edge devices, and cloud platforms (e.g. Azure, AWS) Strong data handling capability (time-series data, analytics, or similar) Ability to work with large datasets and identify meaningful signals or features Understanding of data pipelines and system integration Ability to troubleshoot across OT and IT environments Strong communication skills and ability to engage with customers Comfortable working in industrial environments and at customer sites Highly desirable Experience with industrial data analytics and machine learning concepts Background in production or process industries Why This Role Stands Out Unique blend of OT, edge, and cloud technologies Work with real industrial data and systems at scale Strong customer and commissioning exposure Direct impact on how digital solutions are deployed and experienced We Offer Competitive remuneration, commensurate with experience Eligibility to participate in the global bonus scheme Southern Cross medical insurance Employee assistance program Free onsite parking Generous leave options, including birthday and company day off To be successful for this role you will have full working rights and be required to undergo background checks as well as drug and alcohol testing.
