Job Description
On behalf of a New Zealand-owned Investment and Wealth Advisory business, we are looking for a Head of Technology who can best be described as both a strategist and a conductor. You’ll strategically lead and direct the Technology function, developing and implementing strategies, overseeing business application implementation, ensuring cyber security, managing operational systems, driving data analytics and exploring AI for efficiency and growth. This is a sole charge role that is well supported by vendors who are experts in their fields. You will of course manage these relationships and contribute as a leader and influencer across the wider business. The technology roadmap is well defined, although in the early stages of implementation as the organisation continues to acquire and aggregate. This role is certainly going to stimulate you intellectually, due to its breadth and complexity over the coming years as business integration becomes a key strategic deliverable. About You It is critical that you have already proven your capability in a similar environment, ideally in Wealth Management. You’ll demonstrate an in-depth understanding of the core systems used in financial services and familiarity with the main wealth platforms such as NZXWT and APEX. And of course, you’ll also have a broad understanding of key operational systems and infrastructure, cybersecurity, data & analytics and AI platforms and integrations. We are not seeking a deep technical expert – more, an experienced Technology leader, and, over time an aspirant CTO, who views technology as an enabler of both organisational effectiveness and enhancing the customer experience. Ideally you will bring: A tertiary qualification in Business on/or Technology 5+ years’ experience leading the technology function in Wealth Management or Investment Advisory related organisations A deep understanding of core Wealth Management platforms Experience driving strategic roadmaps, including business integration programs Working knowledge of CRM (HubSpot), Reporting and Data & Analytics platforms Experience in process and data flow mapping Project Management experience. Your personal attributes are likely to suggest that you’ll be comfortable influencing at both Executive/Board level, but also across all levels of the organisation. You’ll be confident managing stakeholder relationships both internal and external, with a willingness to flex your style to suit your audience.
