Mana o te Tangata Trust is a Kaupapa Māori Mental Health & Addiction Peer Support Service. “Walk alongside whānau on their journey of healing, hope and hauora.” Mana o te Tangata Trust is a Kaupapa Māori Mental Health & Addiction Peer Support Service. As a service, we base our delivery on 4 Key principles: We are specifically seeking someone who has lived experience of mental health and/or addiction recovery – someone who understands the journey from the inside out, and who can use that experience to walk authentically alongside whaiora and their whānau. What the role involves As a Pou Arataki Peer support specialist, you’ll work alongside individuals and groups across the Horowhenua region, providing peer-based support grounded in empathy, respect, and shared experience. You’ll: Inspire and support whaiora to reclaim hope and personal power Walk alongside whānau as they navigate challenges in mental health or addiction Help people identify their goals and take steps toward their version of wellbeing Advocate with and for whaiora, ensuring their voices are heard in wider systems Collaborate closely with clinicians, other support services, and the wider Mana o te Tangata team Contribute to the growth of kaupapa Māori peer support programmes in Horowhenua, Manawatū, and Tararua You will also work in partnership with Te Whatu Ora Health New Zealand, helping strengthen the links between community and clinical services.
