Mechanical Technician – Fabrication, Assembly & Machine Building MAT Recruitment – North Shore, North Island We're looking for a practical Mechanical Technician who enjoys variety and takes pride in building quality equipment from the ground up. This isn't a production welding role; it's ideal for someone who enjoys fabrication, mechanical assembly, troubleshooting and seeing a project through from workshop build to installation and commissioning. Working as part of a close-knit team, you'll fabricate, assemble, test and install systems while contributing practical ideas to improve designs and solve technical challenges. What's on offer Salary of $85,000–$100,000 depending on experience Diverse work combining workshop, installation and field service Build custom machinery rather than repetitive production work Small, supportive team where your input is genuinely valued Long-term stable opportunity with a respected specialist manufacturer About the role TIG welding and stainless steel fabrication Mechanical assembly and machine building Pumps, pipework and pneumatic systems Testing, commissioning and fault finding Installation and servicing of equipment at customer sites Reading drawings and assembling complex mechanical systems Using a wide range of workshop machinery and hand tools Assisting with basic electrical wiring, controls and automation where required Working with the team to improve designs and solve engineering problems What you'll bring Strong TIG welding and stainless steel fabrication experience Mechanical assembly and machine-building experience Experience with pumps, piping and pneumatic systems Testing, commissioning or field service experience Excellent practical problem-solving ability Confidence using general workshop equipment and machinery Basic understanding of electrical systems, electronics or automation would be an advantage A positive attitude and willingness to work across a variety of tasks If you enjoy building quality equipment, solving technical challenges and working in a business where your contribution makes a real difference, we'd love to hear from you. #J-18808-Ljbffr
