Law Student / Systems & IP Administration Assistant Law Student / Systems & IP Administration Assistant Part-time | Up to 20 hours per week | Auckland CBD / flexible working Pip is a specialist intellectual property firm helping New Zealand businesses protect, manage and get value from their ideas, brands and innovation. We are looking for a smart, ambitious law student to join us in a flexible part‑time role assisting with general administration, systems support, IP administration and the practical odd‑jobs that help a busy specialist law firm run smoothly. This would suit someone who is sharp, reliable, highly organised, interested in intellectual property, and genuinely enjoys technology, systems and better ways of working. About the role This is a broad support role. Your work may include: assisting with trade mark, design, patent and IP administration; helping prepare client reports, schedules and internal documents; updating and maintaining records in our IP and practice management systems; helping improve internal systems, workflows, templates and processes; assisting with Microsoft 365, document management, data entry and digital housekeeping; helping with AI tools, automation and technology projects where appropriate; supporting the team with general administration and office tasks; and identifying useful things that need doing - and helping make them happen. About you We are looking for someone who is: currently studying law in New Zealand or studying for Masters in Intellectual Property in New Zealand; genuinely interested in intellectual property, brands, innovation or technology; ideally taking, or planning to take, intellectual property papers at university; smart, curious, practical and quick to learn; very tech savvy and confident working in a paperless, digital environment; comfortable with Word, Excel, Outlook and Microsoft 365; interested in systems, AI tools, automation and better ways of working; highly organised, accurate and detail-focused; willing to follow instructions carefully while also showing initiative; reliable, discreet and professional; and legally entitled to work in New Zealand. Experience with AI tools, automations, legal‑tech, databases, SharePoint, Copilot, practice management systems or docketing systems would be a major bonus - but attitude, intelligence and willingness to learn are more important.
