Fosterra Consulting Group – Christchurch, South Island Design the Structures Behind World-Leading Post-Harvest Machinery Wyma Solutions is looking for a talented Mechanical Design Engineer (Structures) to join theirChristchurch-based Design and Engineering team to help design the structural systems that support their industry-leading vegetable polishing and post-harvest processing equipment used by growers and packhouses throughout the world. THE OPPORTUNITY As a Mechanical Design Engineer (Structures), you will play a critical role in designing the structural framework that supports Wyma'smachinery installations within vegetable packhouses. Often thepackaging line is custom-built for clients so the design work involvessolving fresh structural puzzles for unique layouts, weights, and constraints. You will work closely with machinery design engineers, project managers, manufacturing teams, and installation crews to design robust, safe, and efficient structures that meet customer requirements, engineering standards and local compliance standards. This role offers a unique combination of: Machinery integration Design for manufacture International project exposure Real-world engineering problem solving KEY RESPONISBILITIES Structural Design Design structural steel support systems for vegetable polishing lines and associated machinery Develop platforms, stairs, handrails, maintenance accessways, and equipment supports Assess structural loads and ensure compliance with engineering standards Produce structural layouts and fabrication documentation Create detailed 3D models and manufacturing drawings using Autodesk Inventor Collaborate with mechanical engineers to integrate machinery and structural systems Review designs for manufacturability, safety, and installation efficiency Project Delivery Work closely with project and manufacturing teams throughout project execution Provide technical support during fabrication and installation Assist with resolving engineering and warranty-related issues Ensure designs are completed within project schedules and budgets ABOUT YOU You may be an intermediate engineer looking to take the next step in your career or an experienced engineer wanting exposure to world-class machinery projects. Ideally You Will Have several of the following: Degree in Mechanical or Structural Engineering or related discipline Experience assessing strength and stiffness of structures and mechanical systems Advanced 3D CAD skills, ideally Autodesk Inventor Experience producing fabrication and manufacturing drawings Understanding of Design for Manufacture (DFM) Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills The ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team WHAT's ON OFFER?
