Champion Flour Milling Limited – Christchurch, South Island Exciting Opportunity: Maintenance Fitter Champion Flour Milling Limited is seeking an experienced Maintenance Fitter to join our Christchurch Milling team on a permanent full-time basis , working 40 hours per week and reporting to the Milling Engineering Team Lead . About the Role We’re looking for a motivated Maintenance Fitter who enjoys variety, problem‑solving, and seeing the results of their workmanship. You’ll work across a wide range of plant and machinery, helping us maintain reliability and meet production demand in a fast‑paced environment. Key Responsibilities Proficient reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications. Proven ability to measure and fit metal components using hand tools, power tools and machinery Preparation and configuring of machine tools for specific jobs, and able to ensure correct fixtures, settings and tools are applied Assembling of metal parts and subassemblies according to engineering specifications of the mill and production areas Proven ability to fit fabricated metal parts into products and assembling of metal parts and subassemblies to produce machines and equipment to be used in the mill and production areas. Repairing and maintaining machines and equipment by replacing and/or repairing faulty parts Proven ability to operate machines and equipment to fabricate metal components To test and adjust machines and equipment to ensure proper functioning Measuring of metal components for cutting, shaping and welding Proven ability to fit and assemble metal parts according to engineering specifications Cut and shape metal components using hand tools and power tools Ability to weld metal components using various welding techniques i.e. filing, chiselling and grinding To inspect and test welded components for quality and compliance with specifications What You’ll Bring A Maintenance Fitter trade qualification , or related Engineering qualification. New Zealand Certificate in Welding, will be advantageous 5–7 years’ engineering experience preferably in a FMCG environment, will be advantageous. Proven expertise in mechanical systems, production equipment, and plant operations . Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (D365 experience is advantageous). Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills . Ability to interpret technical data, industry reports, and mechanical specifications . Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to dust, prolonged standing, and physical movement required for equipment inspections.
