Mechanical Engineering Technician

Dstone Company Limited - Hamilton, North Island DSTONE COMPANY LIMITED is a well-established Hamilton manufacturer specialising in engineered stone, granite, marble benchtops and custom residential & commercial joinery/cabinetry. We operate a fully equipped production workshop with CNC stone cutting machines, woodworking routers, polishing lines and automated pneumatic/hydraulic fabrication plant. Position Summary To support our growing production output, we are recruiting an experienced Mechanical Engineering Technician to maintain, service and optimise all of our manufacturing machinery and workshop equipment. Key Responsibilities 1. Interpret mechanical engineering drawings, CAD layouts, technical schematics and manufacturer specifications to inspect, adjust, service and test core production equipment including stone-cutting CNC machines, woodworking routers, polishing lines, pneumatic and hydraulic systems within DSTONE's manufacturing workshop and client project sites. 2. Perform scheduled preventive maintenance, breakdown fault diagnosis, repair and servicing for all mechanical equipment, hydraulic/pneumatic assemblies, motors, pumps and fabrication machinery; operate precision measuring and calibration tools to adjust machine alignment, replace worn mechanical fittings and modify small machine components to meet factory operational tolerances. 3. Complete Job Safety Analysis (JSA) for all workshop and site work, and strictly adhere to WorkSafe NZ regulations, NZ HSE standards and internal company safety protocols. 4. Maintain accurate digital and physical records covering maintenance logs, equipment service histories, spare parts inventory, test results and job completion documentation. 5. Source, inspect and verify the quality of mechanical spare parts, raw materials and fabrication stock; coordinate reordering of workshop consumables and critical machine components. 6. Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors and on-site clients to clarify mechanical technical requirements, resolve on-site fitment faults and track project progress milestones. 7. Support work planning, monitor daily machine operation, and promptly report equipment malfunctions or parts shortages to management. 8. Upgrade, adjust and modify existing mechanical plant to improve operational efficiency and productivity, ensuring all work complies with New Zealand industry engineering standards. 9. Assist engineers to prepare and interpret mechanical drawings, layouts and technical specifications; conduct machinery performance testing, compile technical reports on equipment operation and production efficiency, monitor full production systems and provide technical recommendations for process improvement and equipment optimisation. Requirements 1. Bachelor degree or higher of Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, (HVAC) Engineering, Mechanical Process Engineering or a closely related field. 2. with 5+ years of industry experience will be prioritised. 3. Able to read mechanical drawings, CAD layouts and manufacturer technical manuals. 4. Competent using precision measuring tools, calibration gear and standard workshop hand tools. 5.
