Loader Operator - Porirua

We are looking for an Excavator & Loader Operator / Leading Hand to join our Construction & Demolition Recycling team in Porirua. In this role, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of plant, supporting material processing within the C&D yard, maintaining site standards, and helping ensure daily operations run smoothly Key responsibilities Operate tracked excavators with grab buckets to sort and separate large materials into the correct bins Break down oversized materials and feed material into the hopper efficiently Operate wheeled loaders to maintain and position material piles for efficient site operations Use forks to move full and empty bins around the site Complete daily pre-start checks and maintains accurate records Maintain a clean, organised tipping floor Control incoming traffic safely and efficiently Support material sorting, stockpiling, site maintenance, and housekeeping Clean machines daily and report repairs or incidents promptly Support safe work practices and contribute to a strong health and safety culture About you At least 1 year of experience in a similar role — preferred but not essential A full driver's licence Class 2 licence, with Class 4 desirable Forklift endorsement preferred, although training is available Good communication skills and a positive, safety-focused attitude Reliable, practical and able to work well in a hands-on team environment About us WasteCo NZ Ltd provides a wide range of waste management services across New Zealand, including household and commercial waste collection, specialised waste handling, industrial and utility services, city sweeping, spill response, hydrovac, wastewater services, and waste sorting, with a focus on recycling and diverting materials from landfill.
