Maintenance Engineer

Maintenance Engineer Tradestaff Hawke's Bay is recruiting on behalf of a well-established Hawke's Bay client seeking an experienced Maintenance Engineer for a permanent, full-time opportunity based in Napier. This is a hands-on role where you'll lead a small maintenance team while ensuring plant, equipment, and building services are operating safely and efficiently. You'll play a key part in preventative maintenance, breakdown response, and continuous improvement projects. Location: Napier, Hawke's Bay Job Type: Full-time | Permanent The Role As the Maintenance Engineer, you'll be responsible for keeping critical equipment and facilities running at peak performance while leading maintenance activities across the site. Key Responsibilities Lead and supervise a small maintenance team and external contractors Plan and carry out preventative maintenance programmes Diagnose faults and coordinate breakdown repairs Improve equipment reliability, productivity, and site safety Assist with the design and installation of new equipment and automation projects Manage maintenance budgets, purchasing, and contractor relationships Ensure all maintenance work meets Health & Safety standards What We’re Looking For Relevant engineering or trade qualification Proven maintenance engineering experience in manufacturing or industrial environments Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills Experience leading or mentoring a small team Good planning and organisational skills Commitment to safe work practices and continuous improvement Ability to work independently and make sound decisions What’s in It for You?
