About the role Are you an experienced Registered Nurse seeking greater autonomy and working in an environment with a diverse range of patient care. We have casual opportunity available in our Wellington District Nursing team. District Nursing is a dynamic and evolving field, offering a multi-faceted role that supports patients in their homes and communities. We're looking for compassionate, adaptable RNs who thrive in autonomous practice and enjoy working collaboratively within a supportive team. What we offer flexible shifts, morning: 8:00am - 4:30pm and afternoon: 1:30pm - 10:00pm Access to regular in-service training, study days, and post-registration academic opportunities Opportunities to contribute to service development through our Clinical Governance meetings A supportive orientation period for nurses new to community care What we're looking for: Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team Experience in community nursing, palliative care, medical, or wound care is highly valued - but we welcome nurses from all backgrounds Additional information: Police vetting is required if not currently employed by Capital Coast. About the Team/Service/Location We're seeking District Nurse to join our supportive nursing team, working out of the Ewart building, 2 Coromandel Street, Newtown Wellington. District Nursing is a dynamic and evolving specialty. Our nurses play a vital role in supporting patients transitioning from hospital to home, and in working alongside GP practices to provide care in the community. Delivering home-based interventions including: Intravenous therapy Palliative care Wound care Compression bandaging and Doppler assessments Medication management Stoma and incontinence care Respiratory support and home oxygen therapy Assessing patients for their personal care needs and developing care plans. Direction and delegation of the Health Care Assistants (HCAs) and collaborating the wider Community Health team to ensure safe, coordinated care. About you To be successful in this role: A current Annual Practicing Certificate as a Registered Nurse with the NZ Nursing Council. Previous experience in district nursing or a strong interest in community-based care At least five years of broad clinical nursing experience On the Professional Development and Recognition Programme (PDRP), or willingness to work towards it Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills Ability to work both independently and collaboratively Excellent relationship-building skills with community healthcare providers Working at Health New Zealand Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is 'the weaving of wellness'.
