Warehouse Team Lead

This role leads the day-to-day logistics operation on Afternoon Shift and plays a key part in raising performance, improving ways of working, and bringing consistency across shifts. You’ll work across Hawke’s Bay warehousing, currently including the National Distribution Centre (NDC) and Hastings Material Store, with close connection to factory requirements and outbound service outcomes. Key Position Responsibilities Include Lead the Afternoon Shift (2:00pm–11:00pm) logistics operation across Hawke’s Bay warehousing, including the National Distribution Centre (NDC) and Hastings Material Store (and other sites in scope). Build and run the daily shift plan: priorities, sequencing, labour allocation, and fair overtime—balancing service, safety, and cost. Manage workload, volumes, and constraints in real time; escalat risks and remove blockers early. Ensure orders are delivered in full, on time, and cost-effectively, with strong control of required administration and documentation. Own core KPIs and reporting, including RDD, CFR, OTIF; analyse performance and drive corrective actions. Partner with planning and operations to align warehousing execution to factory needs across ingredients, packaging, finished goods, and outbound volume. Lead, coach, and develop the team; ensure training completion and provide ongoing feedback (discipline up to verbal warning level where required). Drive continuous improvement and digitalisation: simplify processes, strengthen controls, and lift shift-to-shift consistency, pace, and standards. Maintain strong housekeeping and support upkeep of equipment, buildings, and racking. Supervise transport service providers to meet KHC SLAs; support the NZ Transport Manager with performance reviews and RFP support. Champion compliance across Food Safety, Environmental, EHS, HR, and legislative requirements (including transport-provider compliance). Support inventory integrity, including IRA targets and accurate stock write-off identification/allocation. About You Proven experience in a Team Leader / Supervisor / Shift Lead role within warehousing or logistics (FMCG experience strongly preferred). Strong administration capability: confident with paperwork, controls, system transactions, and accurate reporting. Demonstrated ability to plan shift activity, manage workload/volume, and deliver to time and service requirements. Confident leader with clear communication and decision‑making under pressure. Strong commitment to quality, food safety, and compliance standards. Forklift licence (FL) or willingness to obtain (role requirement). A Bonus If You Have Experience with BPCS/Paperless or similar WMS/ERP inventory systems. Strong Excel skills and confidence with Microsoft/Windows applications. Working knowledge of transport operations (road/rail/sea/air) and provider performance management. Continuous improvement experience (standard work, visual management, waste reduction, process redesign).
