Residential Support Worker - Two roles for a total of 68 hours We are seeking two Residential Support Workers to join our team in permanent full-time positions based in Manurewa. Mahitahi will split the division of the hours following discussion with the candidates. Hours of work: Include, wake shifts: 11.00 pm – 7.00 am Week and weekend shifts: From Mondays to Sundays Available to provide cover for the team during annual leave and other planned or unplanned absences, as required. Te mahi tūranga | About the role As a Residential Support Worker in the Mental Health and Addictions sector, you will play a crucial role in providing care, support, and assistance to individuals living with mental health issues and addiction challenges. When on shift, your role will involve contributing to a safe and supportive living environment, empowering residents to work towards recovery, and foster a sense of community and well-being within the residential setting. Responsibilities: Establish and maintain a trusting and therapeutic relationship with residents. Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as grooming, meal preparation, and medication management. Support residents in developing life skills, social skills, and coping mechanisms. Promote community integration and participation by organizing and facilitating group outings and recreational activities. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of residents' progress and support needs Ensure a safe and secure living environment by monitoring and addressing potential safety hazards. Participate in relevant training as required to support safe practice in the role Ngā āpūnga, āpūto ōu - What you will need Empathy, patience, and a non-judgmental approach. Physically capable Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively in a team and independently. Effective Time Management Skills Knowledge of local community resources and services Cultural competence and sensitivity to address the diverse needs of clients. Understanding and ability to work within the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi Flexibility to work weekend overnight shifts and accept casual shifts as offered Desired: Previous experience working in the mental health and addictions sector is an asset.
