Frequent health and well-being checks Supportive team culture to ensure success in your role! About the Role We’re looking for a Pre-Projects Engineer to lead the front-end of our work. This role is all about scoping, designing, and costing work as part of our proposals. You’ll sit at the intersection of business development and engineering, turning opportunities into clear, commercially sound concepts, designs and proposals. You’ll be working across municipal infrastructure and industrial processing environments, helping define solutions that are practical, buildable, and aligned with how these industries operate. What you’ll be doing: Coordinating the end-to-end proposal process, from opportunity through to handover Developing clear scopes of work (what’s in, what’s out, and what it costs) Working with sales and engineering teams to shape fit-for-purpose solutions Scoping suppliers and subcontractors Supporting the smooth transition from sales into project delivery What we’re looking for Engineering design – P&D, layout and mechanical drawings Experience in proposal development, project scoping, or front-end engineering Background in dairy, industrial, municipal, or food processing environments Strong commercial awareness; you understand cost, risk, and scope Ability to communicate Comfortable working across multiple bids with competing deadlines Engineering or technical background (formal or through experience) About Vertex Engineers Vertex delivers engineering solutions that keep New Zealand's food, dairy, water and industrial sectors moving.
