Job Description
We are seeking experienced and passionate Civil Engineers to join our growing Engineering team and contribute to the delivery and development of our Civil Engineering programmes. This is an exciting opportunity to share your industry knowledge, support the next generation of engineers, and help shape the future of engineering education at NMIT. We are seeking applications for 1-2 roles , with opportunities available for permanent, part-time and fixed-term appointments. We particularly welcome interest from civil engineers who wish to remain connected with industry through part-time teaching opportunities. Please indicate in your application what you are interested in applying for. The key responsibilities for the role are: Deliver engaging teaching and assessment across Civil Engineering programmes. Support learner success through effective teaching, mentoring, and guidance. Enhance learning resources and contribute to programme improvement. Maintain strong relationships with industry to ensure programmes remain current and relevant. Contribute to the ongoing growth and development of Civil Engineering education at NMIT. The successful candidate will bring practical industry experience into the classroom, delivering high-quality teaching and supporting learners to develop the skills and knowledge required for their future careers. You will work closely with learners, industry partners, and the wider Engineering team to provide an engaging and industry-focused learning environment. To be successful in this role you will need: A relevant Civil Engineering qualification and strong industry experience. Technical expertise in areas that are particularly relevant include: civil infrastructure, geotechnical engineering, hydrology, urban drainage, or related fields. A passion for sharing knowledge and developing future engineers. Strong communication, relationship management, and collaboration skills. The ability to work effectively as part of a teaching team. Completion of, or current enrolment in, postgraduate study in Civil Engineering or a related discipline is desirable. Teaching experience is also desirable; however, support and professional development will be provided for experienced engineers transitioning into tertiary education.
