YEH Renewable Energy Consultants Ltd – Auckland, North Island Power New Zealand's renewable energy future YEH Renewable Energy Consultants Ltd is an Auckland-based consulting engineering firm specialising in solar PV and battery energy storage design. We work with clients across New Zealand and the Pacific on grid-connected, off-grid, hybrid and utility-scale projects — taking them from first site assessment through to construction-ready documentation. We're looking for a Solar Design Engineer to join our engineering team at our Anzac Ave office in the Auckland CBD. About the role Designing grid-connected, off-grid, hybrid and utility-scale solar PV and BESS systems to AS/NZS 3000, 4777, 5033, 5139 and AS 4509 Preparing single-line diagrams, load calculations, string designs, equipment specifications and bills of materials Conducting desktop site assessments, shade analysis, solar resource evaluation and grid connection reviews Completing feasibility studies including energy consumption analysis, tariff analysis and cost-benefit modelling Building 3D models and 2D CAD drawings, and issuing construction-ready deliverables Preparing documentation for consents, network connection applications, pricing and construction Liaising with clients, contractors, network operators, councils and regulatory authorities Participating in design quality reviews and peer-checking About you Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering or a closely related discipline Sound knowledge of electrical engineering principles across DC, LV and MV systems Working knowledge of AS/NZS electrical and solar standards and grid connection requirements Proficiency (or strong aptitude) with solar design software such as PVsyst, PVWatts, SAM or HOMER, and CAD tools such as SketchUp and LayOut Strong analytical skills, close attention to detail, and clear written and verbal communication Ability to manage multiple projects to deadline and contribute to a collaborative team CPEng, EWRB registration (or progress towards it) and CEC Designer accreditation are all valued but not essential You must have the legal right to work in New Zealand What we offer Competitive salary, reviewed annually, with a discretionary performance bonus KiwiSaver employer contributions Professional development annual allowance for training, CPD or software certification Structured mentoring and a genuine development pathway towards independently leading solar PV projects Varied, hands-on project work with site visits across New Zealand Central Auckland office at the Tasman Building, 16 Anzac Ave #J-18808-Ljbffr
