Job Description

Full-Stack Software Development Engineer Traffic Safe NZ provides temporary traffic management services throughout the North Island. Behind the scenes, our internal software systems are what keeps our operations efficient, reliable, and safe. We're now looking for an experienced engineer, based at our South Auckland office, to design, build, and support those systems end-to-end. About the role This is a hands-on, individual contributor role for someone who enjoys owning software delivery from start to finish. You'll design, develop, deploy, and support enterprise-grade internal applications across the business - covering everything from architecture and coding through to CI/CD, production support, and ongoing enhancements. You'll work independently, contribute to our engineering standards, and have genuine scope to shape how things are built. If you like solving real business problems with clean, well-built software, you'll fit right in. What you'll do Lead development of internal enterprise applications across the full software development lifecycle Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar) Support cloud-based deployments across Azure and/or AWS Troubleshoot production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and optimise performance Write and maintain automated unit, integration, and functional tests Contribute to architecture discussions, code reviews, and technical documentation Use AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot/Codex, or Cursor to work smarter and deliver faster What you'll bring 3–5 years of hands‑on experience in enterprise software development and production application support. Backend Expertise: Strong proficiency in the C#/.NET ecosystem (.NET Framework/.NET 8+) alongside practical working knowledge of Go (Golang) for backend services and APIs. Data & APIs: Strong understanding of REST APIs, OOP, SOLID principles, SQL Server, and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB). Cloud & DevOps: Hands‑on experience deploying to AWS (Azure experience is highly valued), alongside Git and automated deployment pipelines. AI Tooling: Basic knowledge and practical familiarity with AI-assisted coding tools, including the ability to critically review and validate AI-generated code. A practical, detail‑oriented approach with the ability to work independently, manage deliverables, and see issues through to resolution. You must already hold valid New Zealand work rights to apply.
