Civil Construction Surveyor - Wānaka

Ross Reid Contractors Ltd is seeking an experienced Civil Construction Surveyor for a new project based in the Wānaka region. This is a senior, hands-on role responsible for delivering accurate surveying, set-out, earthworks calculations, as-built documentation and technical support throughout the project. About the Role Key responsibilities will include: Completing construction set-out for earthworks, drainage, roads, boundaries and structures Performing earthworks cut-and-fill calculations and design checks Conducting topographical, level and field surveys Preparing survey drawings, cross-sections, maps and reports Collecting and processing survey data Producing and maintaining accurate as-built plans and records Reviewing construction drawings, specifications and engineering information Confirming that civil works are constructed in accordance with approved designs Operating GPS, total stations, levels and other modern survey equipment Maintaining equipment calibration and survey registers Using CAD and survey software to process data and prepare plans Providing measurement information for monthly progress claims Supplying survey information for project costing and reporting Checking and validating work completed by subcontractors Liaising with project managers, engineers, consultants, clients and site teams Supporting and mentoring junior survey staff where required Ensuring survey information is current, accurate and readily accessible Promoting safe work practices and compliance with HSEQ requirements About You The successful applicant will ideally have: At least five years' senior surveying experience in civil construction or earthworks Strong experience with civil construction set-out and as-built surveying Proven ability to complete cut-and-fill calculations Experience surveying drainage, roads, structures and bulk earthworks Proficiency with GPS, total stations and modern survey technology Experience using Civil CAD, Magnet and Trimble Business Center The ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and digital models High attention to detail and accuracy Strong communication and organisational skills The ability to manage multiple survey requirements and project deadlines Experience supervising or mentoring junior surveyors A current New Zealand driver licence The legal right to work in New Zealand Relevant surveying qualifications would be advantageous.
