Job Description
This is a Permanent Part-Time role, working 16 hours per week , across set shifts: Pay rate: $23.95–$29.10 per hour (based on qualifications) Weekend allowance: Additional $2.50 per hour for weekend shifts Equitas Care is a small, niche residential service supporting people who have sustained traumatic brain injuries. Our vision is simple: “Enabling people to thrive and have a unique lifestyle of their choice.” We are based in Avonhead, Christchurch, and pride ourselves on providing high‑quality, person‑centred support. As a Support Worker , you will support residents with traumatic brain injuries to build independence, engage in meaningful activities, and live fulfilling lives. You will work within a small, supportive team and make a genuine difference every day. The responsibilities of this role include: Developing relationships with the people we support, their families and others involved in their lives. Supporting residents' rehabilitation and independence Taking people out into the community usually on a one-to-one basis Assisting with personal care needs, including showering, dressing and grooming Household management and meal preparation Driving mobility vans (you must have valid Full NZ driving license) Ability to provide clear documentation. A police check will be required. We are looking for people with the following attributes: Passion to support people with all their needs. Caring, reliable and trustworthy Respectful of people's differences Ideally have at least 1 year of experience in a similar support role Adaptable and flexible Able to work a part of a team or autonomously. MUST have afull New Zealand driver’s license(without any restrictions) and happy to drive a mobility van. Many of our residents own their own vehicle. Good time management, organizational skills and attention to detail. What we offer A high staff to resident ratio generally 1 staff to 2 residents.
