Job Description
Immigration Advisers and Adviser Assistants We are seeking outstanding individuals to join our team in our office in Newmarket, Auckland as Licensed Immigration Advisers and Assistants. The purpose of these roles is to provide immigration advice to clients, prepare, draft and submit documents to Immigration New Zealand (Advisers) or to assist the immigration adviser with clerical tasks and managing the client file (Assistants). These roles are permanent full-time (guaranteed 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday) and will give you the opportunity to develop hands‑on knowledge and experience in immigration to become a competent and highly effective Immigration Adviser. ADVISERS Key responsibilities include: Arranging, recording, and answering client enquiries about their cases Assessing, discussing and assisting clients with immigration matters Assisting clients to understand and resolve immigration problems Providing immigration advice and written opinions on points of immigration law Representing clients in all immigration matters related to their case Answering and making telephone calls to clients and other related third parties, including Immigration New Zealand Checking, writing and replying emails and messages concerning client cases Receiving written information in the form of briefs and verbal instructions concerning immigration cases Researching statutes and previous Court/IPT decisions relevant to immigration cases Interpreting and summarising the latest immigration news, announcements and policies amendments Recording the progression of application preparation Transcribing, proofreading and correcting documents Recording, preparing, sorting, classifying, photocopying and filing client cases Supervising assistants’ work progress and performance, advising on the staff yearly performance reviews and personal development plans When necessary, providing report on clients’ case status, risks and issues, and provide recommendations to solve problems, reduce risks and eliminate issues When necessary, providing forecast of what cases/trainings will be performed Ensure all staff are familiar with the immigration policies, processes and procedures by providing training and guidance where necessary Ideal candidates should hold a valid IAA Immigration Advisers License. Previous experience in giving immigration advice or in guiding assistants, will be bonus, not a must. The successful applicants should also be: Capable of working well both independently and as part of a team A team player who is proactive and adaptable Communicating effectively and positively with co-workers and clients ASSISTANTS The ideal candidates would have some experience in an administrative role, be diligent, organised and interested to learn about immigration, and have a genuine interest in helping people to migrate to New Zealand.
