The Opportunity We're looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Engineering Team in Tauriko, Tauranga. Working alongside experienced engineers and designers, you'll be involved throughout the design lifecycle, transforming customer requirements into practical, manufacturable solutions that support our production team and deliver exceptional products. This is a varied role where no two projects are the same. You'll contribute to everything from new product development and continuous improvement through to production support and technical problem solving. What You'll Be Doing You’ll be involved in: Developing innovative heavy vehicle designs that meet customer and manufacturing requirements Creating accurate 3D models and production drawings Producing engineering calculations where required to validate designs Preparing complete manufacturing documentation including build packs, Bills of Materials, CAM files and quality documentation Revising and improving existing designs as products evolve Providing technical support to manufacturing and other internal teams Working closely with production to ensure designs are practical, efficient and manufacturable Contributing ideas that improve product performance, quality and manufacturing efficiency About You You're someone who enjoys designing real products, solving technical problems, and seeing your work become reality. You may be a Mechanical Engineer, Design Engineer, Mechanical Designer or an experienced Mechanical CAD Draftsperson with strong engineering understanding. Ideally you’ll bring: A qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design, CAD, or equivalent industry experience Experience designing fabricated mechanical products or heavy equipment Strong 3D CAD modelling and technical drawing skills Experience with Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD and Vault (preferred) Good understanding of fabrication, welding and manufacturing processes Knowledge of engineering principles including structural design, fatigue and mechanical assemblies Experience creating Bills of Materials, production documentation and build packs Strong attention to detail and pride in producing accurate work Excellent communication and problem solving skills A collaborative approach and genuine enthusiasm for engineering Experience within the transport or heavy vehicle industry is highly regarded but not essential.
