The Company This is a rare opportunity to become the technical authority responsible for one of New Zealand's most significant AWS transformation programmes. Our client is a leading Tier 1 consumer finance organisation embarking on a major cloud first strategy. Over the coming years, AWS will serve as a primary platform for delivering the critical technology capabilities that underpin customer products, support a modern, scalable and highly secure technology environment. They’re looking for someone who has already delivered enterprise AWS platforms. Someone who enjoys remaining hands on while shaping architecture, influencing strategy and setting technical direction. The Opportunity As a member of the Technology Operations Team, you’ll own the AWS platform from architecture through to operational excellence. This is a genuine end-to-end ownership role. You’ll play a key role in shaping and delivering the organisation’s cloud roadmap, leading migration initiatives, and evolving the AWS platforms and services that underpin critical technology capabilities for years to come. You’ll also become the recognised AWS Subject Matter Expert, working alongside Support, Infrastructure, Security and Platform Development teams to ensure every new cloud service is secure, scalable, resilient and operationally mature. What You’ll Be Doing Provide technical leadership for AWS platform design, implementation and continuous improvement. Enhance and support enterprise AWS environments, ensuring they remain secure, scalable and resilient. Design migration strategies for infrastructure, enterprise applications, databases and API services. Deliver Infrastructure as Code using Terraform to create repeatable, automated cloud deployments. Design secure networking, identity and access frameworks that support enterprise scale environments. Build resilient, observable cloud platforms with monitoring, automation and operational excellence embedded from the outset. Partner with Infrastructure, Security, Development and Architecture teams to modernise enterprise services. Provide senior technical leadership while mentoring others and helping mature the organisation’s AWS capability. About You You’ve already been the senior technical authority within an enterprise AWS environment. You’re not looking for your first senior role; you’ve already earned it. You’ve designed cloud platforms, established governance standards and successfully delivered complex cloud transformation initiatives. You’re equally comfortable discussing architecture with senior stakeholders as you are rolling up your sleeves to solve complex technical challenges. You’ll bring proven experience across Enterprise AWS architecture, including Landing Zones, multi account environments and cloud governance. Terraform and Infrastructure as Code for repeatable, automated deployments. AWS Identity & Access Management, security architecture and enterprise networking, including VPCs, Transit Gateway and hybrid connectivity. Migrating enterprise workloads from on premise infrastructure into modern AWS services. Building resilient cloud platforms with strong observability, monitoring, automation and operational support practices. Working within an Enterprise MSP, Technical Consultancy or large corporate technology environment. Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, serverless technologies, AWS managed services or Financial Services environments will be highly regarded, as will AWS Solutions Architect certification and exposure to mature IT Service Management practices.
