As our Financial Asset Accountant, you'll be responsible for the financial management and reporting of some of New Zealand's most significant infrastructure assets, including water and wastewater networks, treatment plants, land, buildings, pumps, and major capital projects. You'll play a critical role in ensuring asset information is accurately recorded, capitalised and reported, while supporting investment decisions that help shape Auckland's future. Working closely with project managers, engineers, operational teams, valuers and auditors, you'll become a trusted advisor on asset accounting and capital investment. Managing fixed asset accounting processes, including capitalisations, disposals, depreciation and impairment reviews. Maintaining the integrity of Watercare's fixed asset register and capital work-in-progress reporting. Managing asset revaluation and indexation programmes alongside external valuers. Supporting budgeting and forecasting activities, including depreciation and asset movement analysis. Preparing asset disclosures for financial reporting and partnering with auditors during interim and year-end audits. Providing expert guidance to project teams to ensure timely capitalisation and compliance with accounting standards and organisational policy. Identifying opportunities to improve processes, systems and reporting efficiency. Ngā pūkenga e rapu nei mātou | About you We're looking for a motivated and analytically minded finance professional who enjoys solving complex problems, building strong relationships, and making a meaningful impact. You'll bring: A degree in Accounting or Finance. CA ANZ, CPA or equivalent professional qualification (or be actively working towards it). Around 3-5 years' accounting experience within a large organisation or accounting practice. Experience in fixed asset accounting, financial reporting or infrastructure accounting. Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret and apply accounting standards. Experience working with ERP systems and fixed asset registers. Advanced Excel skills and a continuous improvement mindset. The confidence to build relationships, influence stakeholders and communicate financial information clearly to both finance and non-finance audiences.
