RNZ has an opportunity for an experienced and ambitioussports journalist to join New Zealand's award-winning public media newsroom. We're looking for someone who consistently produces originaljournalism - breaking news, developing exclusive stories, uncovering issuesthat matter and providing analysis that helps audiences understand the biggestmoments in sport. You'll be equally comfortable chasing a breaking story,cultivating long-term sources and delivering compelling journalism across audioand digital platforms. Te Mahi – About the job As a senior member of the sports team, you'llgenerate and deliver original sports journalism across RNZ's news, currentaffairs and digital platforms. You'll be expected to build and maintain astrong network of contacts across New Zealand sport, identify stories beforeour competitors and produce journalism that is accurate, fair and distinctive. Your work will include: Breaking exclusive sports stories and developingoriginal reporting. Producing insightful analysis and enterprisejournalism that goes beyond match results. Covering major breaking news and significantsporting events. Researching, writing and producing stories forradio, digital and social platforms. Building and maintaining trusted relationshipswith athletes, administrators, coaches and key industry contacts. Presenting sports bulletins and contributinglive reporting when required. Producing audio content using appropriaterecording, editing and production techniques. Youwill have some experience in covering sport news, have a passion for sport andhow it is covered, a nose for news and strong knowledge. A strongtrack record of breaking original stories and delivering exclusive journalism. Excellentwriting skills and the ability to produce clear, engaging and accurate copy. Stronganalytical skills and the ability to provide context and insight, not justreport events. Ademonstrated ability to develop and maintain high-quality contacts and sources. Acommitment to the highest standards of accuracy, fairness and public-interestjournalism. Theability to produce high-quality content across multiple platforms. Confidenceworking collaboratively in a fast-paced newsroom. As part of a small, friendly team, you’ll be availableto work shifts that include weekends, early mornings and evenings for sportscoverage.
