Support Worker for Tamariki and Rangatahi Community Living – Waikato District, North Island Community Living Limited is a leading provider of support for people living in the community with an intellectual disability.We work alongside people to design supports that meet their unique challenges, needs and the life they want to lead. Mo te Mahi - About the Role Due to the health needs of the people we support, we are seeking Male applicants to support four boys aged 6–14 to thrive in their everyday lives by building confidence, developing social and life skills, and encouraging community involvement. You'll be a trusted mentor and role model, supporting activities such as homework, sports, gaming, outdoor adventures, baking, swimming, and recreation while providing safe, consistent, person-centred support. This position has contact with children, and Community Living are committed to child safety. You will be subject to safety checks under the Vulnerable Children Act at the time of hire and thereafter as per the relevant legislation. We are offering 42 hours per fortnight with the potential to add on extra shifts during the holidays. This role will cover Ohaupo, Te Awamautu, Arapuni areas and we are seeking someone local to the area. No two days are the same and the role of a support worker changes daily due to the unique needs of the people we support. To be successful in gaining a position in the team, you will need to be innovative and have the skills to become a role model and mentor for the children & young people we support. You will need to You have a genuine interest in supporting young people to build confidence, independence, and life skills. You are patient, reliable, and able to create positive connections with children and their whānau. You enjoy being active and getting involved in activities such as sports, gaming, outdoor adventures, baking, and community outings. You can provide consistent support, encouragement, and positive role modelling. You are confident setting and maintaining clear boundaries, particularly when supporting young people with complex needs. You have strong communication skills and can adapt your approach to suit each young person's needs. Experience supporting children or young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, or other developmental needs is advantageous. You are calm under pressure and able to respond confidently to challenging situations. You hold a full New Zealand driver's licence and have a reliable vehicle. be a New Zealand citizen or resident.
