We’re looking for a vineyard operator to work 3 Ha of vines just off Gordons Road, Whakanewha. The property is a stunning corner of the island with 100 acres of farmland and a native bush as the backdrop. Kauaroa Bay is in the early stages of establishment, and we’re after someone truly invested in wine and viticulture who wants to be part of the journey from the ground up. Kauaroa Bay has been operating over the past few years establishing and revitalising the vineyard and are now starting to commercialise. We’re a small, passionate team committed to making high-quality wines — we’d love someone who shares that drive. We produce premium quality Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. We also produce a methode traditional from our chardonnay grapes and are currently in the process of planting Syrah. VINEYARD WORK RESPONSIBILTIES REQUIRED BUT NOT LIMITED TO: Training, leaf plucking & tucking Wire lifting, fixing & maintenance Spraying Pruning & mulching Netting Mowing & weed eating Tractor work Irrigation maintenance WIDER PROPERTY The property spans 100 acres of farmland alongside the vineyard. The role may also occasionally involve: Moving animals on the farm Supporting the native tree regeneration project GROW YOUR WINE CAREER Training & development For the right person, training and coaching in other areas of the business could be explored. WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR Viticulture experience is essential. This is a hands‑on role for someone who takes real ownership of the vines and genuinely cares about the craft of growing great quality grapes in a truly special setting. 40-hour work week, hours may vary due to specific times of the year Reports directly to the Viticulturist / Vineyard Manager Must already have the legal right to work in New Zealand.
