Engineering Tradesperson - Mechanical & Fabrication Mechanical Engineer Hands-On Engineering | Hydraulics | Field Service | Fabrication This is a full-time temporary position with the opportunity to become permanent for the right person. Are you a practical, mechanically minded engineer or technician who enjoys problem-solving and variety? Our client is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join their team in a hands-on role combining mechanical engineering, hydraulic servicing, fabrication, repairs, and mobile field service. About the Role Working across both the workshop and customer sites, you’ll utilise the company’s fully equipped BOA Pod hydraulic service trailer to provide on-site hydraulic hose repairs, maintenance, breakdown support, and fault-finding services. You’ll also assist with workshop repairs, fabrication, and engineering projects, using your technical skills to diagnose issues and deliver practical solutions for customers across a range of industries. Key Responsibilities Diagnose mechanical and hydraulic faults and develop practical solutions. Manufacture and replace hydraulic hoses to customer requirements. Complete mechanical repairs, maintenance, fabrication, and new build projects. Provide scheduled servicing and emergency breakdown support. Troubleshoot hydraulic systems and interpret technical information. Complete job sheets, service reports, and customer documentation. Work independently in the field while contributing positively to the wider team. About You We’re looking for someone who is: Experienced in one or more of the following: mechanical engineering, hydraulics, heavy automotive, maintenance, fabrication, or a related trade. Confident working with hydraulic systems, repairs, and fault-finding. Able to work independently while providing professional customer service. Reliable, organised, and committed to delivering quality workmanship. Holds a full NZ Class 1 driver licence. A relevant trade qualification and experience with hydraulic hose assembly, fabrication, trailer towing, or equipment certifications would be advantageous.
