About the Role As a Receptionist within the Emergency Department, you will provide professional, compassionate and efficient reception and administrative support to patients, whānau, visitors and clinical staff. As the first point of contact, you will play an important role in ensuring patients receive a welcoming experience while supporting effective patient flow through accurate registration and management of patient information. This is a fast-paced role requiring excellent communication, attention to detail, and the ability to remain calm under pressure. You will work rotating shifts across a 24/7 roster, including weekends and public holidays, contributing to the smooth operation of the Emergency Department at all times. About you To be successful in this role, you will have: Experience in administration, reception or customer service environments Excellent interpersonal, telephone and communication skills Strong computer and data entry skills with a high level of accuracy Ability to manage competing priorities in a busy environment Understanding of confidentiality, privacy and customer-focused service delivery Experience using patient administration systems or healthcare administration systems (desirable) Knowledge of medical terminology and emergency department environments (desirable) About the Team/Service The Emergency Department provides acute assessment and treatment for patients requiring urgent medical care. You will be part of a dedicated multidisciplinary team committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care while supporting positive outcomes for our community.
