Senior Land Development Engineer - Major Land Development Projects Lead large-scale land development projects in one of New Zealand’s fastest-growing regions. The Queenstown Lakes district continues to see some of the most ambitious land development in the country. Delivering these projects requires engineers who can combine strong technical capability with confident project leadership. Patersons is seeking a Senior Land Development Engineer to join our Queenstown office and help lead major developments including projects such as the Kingston development. This is an opportunity to work closely with experienced planners, surveyors and engineers while managing projects that help shape the future of the Queenstown Lakes district and build your career in a region known for its outdoor lifestyle and strong sense of community. The role As a Senior Land Development Engineer, you will lead projects from feasibility and consenting through to detailed design, procurement and construction. A key focus will be major developments such as Kingston, alongside other significant projects across the wider Queenstown Lakes area. Your responsibilities will include: Leading subdivision and land development projects across all project phases. Delivering civil engineering design including earthworks, stormwater and wastewater infrastructure, and roading. Using 12d software for modelling and design. Preparing engineering drawings, specifications and technical reports. Managing NZS3910 engineering contracts and tender processes. Coordinating multidisciplinary teams and specialist consultants. Maintaining strong relationships with developers, councils and contractors. You will play an important role in ensuring projects are delivered efficiently, safely and to a high technical standard. About you You will bring both project leadership and technical delivery capability, along with: At least 8 –10 years’ experience in land development engineering, including experience leading projects and managing construction contracts. A relevant surveying or engineering qualification. Experience navigating New Zealand consent processes and council standards. Strong capability using 12d software. Confidence managing project teams and client relationships. A collaborative approach to solving complex development challenges. You enjoy taking ownership of projects and delivering strong outcomes for clients.
