Human Resources Coordinator – Fixed-Term Maternity Leave Cover Hotel Grand Chancellor – Wellington Central, North Island The James Cook Hotel Grand Chancellor is one of Wellington’s most well-known Hotels. We are part of the Grand Hotels International group with hotels located throughout New Zealand, Australia, Malaysia and Singapore. Grand Hotels International is known for quality accommodation, exceptional service, convenient locations and outstanding conference and meeting facilities. This is a generalist Human Resources Coordinator role. Previous experience in Hospitality is beneficial, in particular in a Human Resources capacity or in an operational supervisory role. This position reports to the Director of Human Resources – New Zealand and works closely with all Departmental Managers and staff, therefore a friendly and professional approach is essential. This is a fixed-term position providing maternity leave cover, commencing in Mid July 2026 and concluding in March 2027. Open to the role being full-time or part-time for a candidate with the right candidate. The role could be a good fit for an experienced HR professional wanting to work in a part-time capacity. Hours of work could work around the school run and some flexibility with start and finish time. The ideal candidate for this role will have: A tertiary qualification in Hospitality or Human Resources Sound understanding of current New Zealand employment law Sound understanding of NZ health and safety legislation Previous experience with recruitment Excellent computer proficiency, in particular Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word and Excel, PowerPoint) Fantastic organisational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritise Exceptional attention to detail Initiative and the ability to work autonomously A high level of passion, drive and enthusiasm Strong verbal and written communication skills A high work ethic and to lead by example, creating a positive and professional culture in the hotel The position will include, but is not limited to: Recruitment of front line and supervisory positions, including advertising, candidate selection, interviewing, preparing employment agreements and onboarding the new team members through Employment Hero.
