Ready to put your steel fixing skills to work on a major civil project? Tradestaff is looking for reliable and hardworking Steel Fixers to join our team in Ōtaki. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on large-scale infrastructure projects while earning a competitive hourly rate with weekly pay. Location: Ōtaki Start date: Available immediately Pay rate: $35–$38 per hour (weekly pay) About the Role As a Steel Fixer, you'll play a key role in reinforcing concrete structures across commercial, industrial and civil construction projects. You'll work alongside experienced crews on a major civil project, helping deliver high-quality infrastructure safely and efficiently. Set out work areas by following engineering plans and specifications Read and interpret construction drawings Cut and bend reinforcing bars and mesh using hand and power tools Tie reinforcing steel together using wire, clips or welds to form cages and sections Operate industrial wire cutters, bolt cutters, guillotines and power saws Install reinforcing steel rods, bars and mesh for concrete structures Carry out welding of steel components where required Work safely at heights using ladders, scaffolding and elevated work platforms when required Assist with hydraulic jacks and tensioning equipment to test completed work What We're Looking For Previous steel fixing or reinforcing experience preferred Ability to read and follow plans and specifications Reliable, physically fit and able to work in a team environment Strong commitment to workplace health and safety What's in it for you?
