We are looking for a confident and motivated Animal Control Officer to join our hardworking and knowledgeable Regulatory team. This is a permanent full-time position based in Wanaka. What you’ll be doing / He aha te mahi You will provide effective animal control services to ensure a safe environment from roaming and aggressive dogs for the community through education, pro-active patrolling and the administration and enforcement of Queenstown Lakes District Council's Dog Control Bylaws and relevant legislation. You will also be responsible for the care of animals in the pound and must ensure that the pound is kept in a clean and safe condition. The role will involve: Patrolling assigned areas of the district as directed and to ensure compliance with the Queenstown Lakes District Council's Dog Control Bylaw and Dog control policy Writing concise, detailed reports regarding dog attacks Assessing and issuing tickets to parking matters in response to complaints from the public outside the CBD Issuing of dog control infringement offence notices as required What you’ll bring to the role / Ko wai to Pukeka You will have at least two years of experience in a regulatory environment and will have strong report-writing skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to multitask effectively. You must be able to build and maintain positive relationships with customers, handle difficult situations calmly, and work in various weather conditions. National Certificate in Compliance and Regulatory Control (Animal Control) Level 2 and 4.
