The Business Development Manager will drive Effect’s growth in theprivate sector, increasing revenue by identifying, qualifying, and converting new business opportunities. You’ll own the front end of the sales cycle building pipeline, leading client conversations, developing high-quality proposals, and closing deals—while working closely with our marketing and delivery teams to position Effect’s capabilities and ensure smooth handovers. You’ll also haveadvanced Office Suite Workspace skills, producing polished, client-ready proposals, presentations, and reporting. Key objectives: Grow revenue through consistent new business wins and pipeline conversion. Expand Effect’s footprint across SME and mid-tier private-sector organisations. Build trusted relationships with decision-makers and influencers. Partner with marketing to align outreach with campaigns and strengthen market presence. What you’ll be doing Key responsibilities Proactively identify and engage prospective clients through outreach, LinkedIn, referrals, and networking. Run discovery meetings to understand client goals and shape tailored solutions with internal teams. Develop and deliver high-quality proposals, presentations, and commercial responses that win work. Manage opportunities end-to-end: qualification, follow-up, objection handling, negotiation, and close. Build and maintain a healthy pipeline and accurate forecasts; report clearly on progress and results. Conduct market and competitor research to uncover opportunities and refine sales approach. Align sales activity to marketing campaigns and provide feedback to improve messaging and targeting. Collaborate with delivery teams to ensure a seamless transition from sale to implementation. Maintain strong CRM discipline ensuring activity, notes, next steps, and documentation are up to date. What we’re looking for 5+ years’ experience in private-sector business development / new business sales (B2B). Proven ability to generate leads, build pipeline, and close new business. Exceptional communication skills(written and verbal), with confidence presenting to senior stakeholders. Strong proposal and documentation skills able to produce clear, persuasive, client‑ready material. Advanced proficiency in Office Suite/Google Workspace(Word/Docs, PowerPoint/Slides, Excel/Sheets) with strong attention to detail and formatting. Strong organisation and time management comfortable juggling multiple opportunities at once. Ability to work independently, take initiative, and follow through consistently. An entrepreneurial, outcomes-focused mindset and genuine drive to win new business. A degree in business/technology is an advantage, but strong real‑world experience is equally valued. Experience selling digital/web/technology services (or working in a digital agency environment) is beneficial.
