About the role The Data Engineer is responsible for the design, development and implementation of a data warehousing solution that supports improved operational quality and efficiency in the delivery of clinical services. The role supports the development of Microsoft Azure based data warehouse capability, integrating both back office and frontline clinical datasets, and contributes to implementation of groupwide data strategy at operational level. Working within a growing IT team during organisation-wide digital transformation, this role provides expertise and insights relating to existing and emerging data warehousing technology. You'll be working alongside a newly formed Data Analytics team in the health industry, at the operational level of a digital transformation where data is central to the Group's future. Reporting to the Data and Analytics Manager, the Data Engineer's key accountabilities include: Designing and developing Microsoft Azure based data engineering and data warehousing solutions that support business intelligence, reporting and analytics requirements Implementing tailored data warehousing solutions that optimise organisational efficiency and clinical outcomes Developing and maintaining data pipelines that enable secure and efficient management and movement of data from multiple sources Supporting the integration of frontline clinical databases and business datasets into a robust, scalable data warehouse environment Monitoring and maintaining data quality, integrity and consistency Applying quality, efficiency and governance principles to data engineering, warehouse design, development, testing and documentation Supporting use of AI-driven data pipelines where appropriate Working alongside the growing Data Analytics team to deliver reliable data foundations for reporting and insights to better inform decision making Identifying opportunities to improve data architecture, processes and system performance Maintaining quality documentation for data pipelines, architecture and operational procedures The successful candidate will: Have 2 to 3 years' experience with data warehouse development and installation Have expert knowledge and experience with Microsoft Azure based data warehouse environments Have experience working with data from multiple source systems, including clinical, operational and/or back-office datasets Have exposure and understanding of AI-driven data pipelines Hold a recognised industry certification and/or tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline Experience setting up a new data warehouse, working with Agentic and RAG AI technologies, or direct experience in healthcare or another similarly regulated, service-based environment, are all a strong plus.
