About us Live for More’s purpose is to empower rangatahi (young people) to find freedom from their troubled pasts and be inspired to live positive and fulfilling lives. Through our surf therapy programmes, lives are transformed – one wave at a time. Our clients are high-risk young men, 17-25 years old and often trapped in lifestyles of addiction, mental health and anti-social behaviours. Many have been or are actively involved in the justice system. Live for More builds strong rapport and healthy, lasting relationships with these rangatahi through surf therapy programmes. Alongside surf therapy, they are also provided intensive clinical counselling, group therapy, practical life navigation skills, mentoring and cultural sessions. All of this is aimed to empower self-belief, confidence and a positive outlook for the rangatahi. With a renewed understanding of life and purpose, as well as their identity, potential and culture, we see rangatahi finding freedom for themselves and their whānau. About the role The key purposes of this role are to: provide clinical management, oversight and supervision to programme staff working directly with clients ensure all staff are working in a safe, ethical and effective way with clients manage clinical aspects of Live for More as an organisation, ensuring that all policies, procedures, framework and clinical work being done is in line with all legal and ethical requirements manage high-risk situations or clients as necessary, or provide guidance and support to programme staff to safely do so develop and provide regular in-house training, upskilling staff in professional development. This is a great opportunity for someone who is a keen leader, experienced with clinical work and passionate about developing other professionals in their practice, as well as passionate about high-risk rangatahi and making a difference in their lives. You will be a person who can easily: provide clinical leadership and oversight to other staff create and deliver educational in-house training sessions deliver regular quality internal supervision to staff develop clinical policies and procedures lead clinical team meetings manage staff KPIs and their ongoing performance in delivering programmes and 1-1s support staff to effectively and safely manage and mitigate the risk of any clients who are deemed high-risk work well within a team of passionate people. The role is based in Mount Maunganui and is a permanent, full-time position (40 hours/week). There may be some flexibility with hours for the right candidate. You will be working as part of a team of nine permanent staff and several awesome volunteers. Skills & experience Ideally the candidate would be: Able to effectively impart clinical knowledge to others in 1-1, group or educational settings Confident in clinical practice and able to manage, advise, grow and develop others’ clinical practice Registered with a professional body related to psychology, counselling or mental health & addictions Registered as a clinical supervisor. Ideally the candidate would have: Minimum of 5 years clinical practice Minimum of 3 years previous workplace experience within an AOD or MH organisation Experience in leadership and managing others clinically Understanding of Māori approaches to wellbeing, such as Te Whare Tapa Whā Understanding of AOD, mental health and the justice system Experience working with high-risk rangatahi Experience leading clinical groupwork Experience running and facilitating programmes Excellent verbal and written communication skills Excellent time management and organisational skills Current full and clean New Zealand Driver’s Licence. Tasks & responsibilities Clinical oversight and management of programme staff working directly with clients Creating and facilitating regular educational training sessions for the staff team, relevant to the specific work and demographic of Live for More Providing regular in-house supervision to programme staff Developing in-house clinical training resources Outworking and further developing our staff wellbeing strategy Doing regular clinical audits to ensure all practice at Live for More is being done in a safe and ethical way Developing clinical policies and procedures as needed Liaising with relevant agencies outside of Live for More Being the designated person for child protection matters, in line with Live for More’s Child Protection policy Attending relevant networking and sector meetings, hui and trainings.
