About the Role We are seeking a Clinical Documentation Systems Administrator to join our Support Services team at Palmerston North Hospital. This role is responsible for the day-to-day administration, configuration, support, and optimisation of our clinical documentation and transcription platform. Acting as the primary technical liaison between Health New Zealand and the system vendor, you will ensure the platform operates reliably, securely, and in alignment with clinical workflow requirements. You will provide technical support to clinicians, transcriptionists, and administrative staff, manage system configuration and updates, monitor integrations with clinical systems, coordinate issue resolution with vendors, develop user training, and identify opportunities for process improvement. This is a unique opportunity to combine technical expertise with healthcare delivery, supporting the integrity and accessibility of clinical information across the organisation About you As a successful candidate, you will bring: A relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Health Informatics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Experience in systems administration, application support, or a similar ICT role. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication skills and the ability to translate technical information for clinical users. The ability to manage competing priorities and work independently in a busy environment. A commitment to patient privacy, information security, and continuous improvement. Desirable experience includes working with clinical information systems, health IT environments, HL7 integrations, clinical documentation platforms, or the New Zealand public health sector. About the Team/Service The Support Services team provides essential systems and operational support that enables clinicians and healthcare teams to deliver high-quality care. The Clinical Documentation Systems Administrator works closely with ICT teams, Health Information Management, clinicians, transcription services, and external vendors to ensure clinical documentation systems remain reliable, effective, and responsive to evolving service needs. Te Pae Hauora o Ruahine o Tararua – MidCentral is a 350-bed hospital in the city of Palmerston North, Manawatū, a city in the Lower North Island of New Zealand. Palmerston North Hospital is a secondary hospital and offers most medical and surgical specialties with the exception of Cardiothoracic, Plastic and Neurosurgery. The hospital serves a local population of 180,000 but is the base for a regional head and neck oncology service which has responsibility for a population of 550,000 and draws patients from Whanganui, Taranaki, and Hawke's Bay.
