About the Team/Service The Waikato Hospital Cardiology department is recognised as a leading national tertiary centre delivering high-quality cardiac care to patients across the Midlands region. Our experienced multidisciplinary team performs a comprehensive range of cardiac diagnostic and interventional procedures including coronary, electrophysiology, pacing and structural heart disease intervention. We also provide after hours on-call support for emergency procedures, ensuring responsive, round the clock care. Our facility includes four labs, state-of-the-art cardiac catheterisation labs and a 14-bed dedicated unit that provides pre and post procedure care to our patients from the hours of 0700-1900 hours, Monday to Friday. In addition, our nursing team provides expert support for a variety of non-invasive and non-lab procedures, playing a vital role in patient care. About Hamilton Waikato Hospital is a major regional hospital in Hamilton and is a leading tertiary teaching hospital located in Hamilton, New Zealand, serving as the regional hub for the Midland area, which includes the Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Lakes, Tairawhiti, and Taranaki districts. With around 722 inpatient beds, 22 operating theatres, and a dedicated outpatient clinic and procedure centre, Waikato Hospital provides comprehensive hospital services, including radiology, laboratory, and pharmacy.
