About the Role We are seeking a Specialist Paediatric Dentist to join ourHospital Dental Service at Christchurch Hospital in a permanent 0.57 FTEposition. This is a rewarding opportunity to provide specialist oralhealthcare for children and young people with significant medical, physical,developmental, or behavioural complexities. You will work with patients whorequire a level of care beyond that typically delivered in community or generalpractice settings, helping improve health outcomes for some of our mostvulnerable children and adolescents. As a key member of our specialist team, you will provideclinical leadership in paediatric dentistry, contribute to multidisciplinarycare planning, and support the education and development of future dentalprofessionals. The role includes opportunities for teaching, supervision,clinical audit, quality improvement, and participation in postgraduate trainingprogrammes. We are currently advertising this position at 0.57 FTE, withan additional 0.03 FTE anticipated to become available pending finalorganisational approvals. This may provide the successful candidate with theopportunity to increase their appointment to a total of 0.6 FTE in the future. About the Team / Service / Location The Hospital Dental Service provides specialist dental carefor patients across Canterbury and the wider South Island who requirehospital-based dental treatment. Our team works closely with medicalspecialists, allied health professionals, community oral health services, andprimary care providers to deliver comprehensive and equitable care. About You As a Specialist Paediatric Dentist , you will bring: Registration(or eligibility for registration) as a Specialist in Paediatric Dentistrywith the Dental Council of New Zealand (DCNZ). Acurrent Annual Practising Certificate or eligibility to obtain one. Excellentcommunication skills and the ability to build effective relationships withpatients, whānau, colleagues, and referrers. Acollaborative approach and commitment to multidisciplinary practice. Apassion for teaching, mentoring, and continuous professional development. Theability to manage a varied and complex clinical workload while maintaininghigh standards of patient-centred care. Professional membership in relevant paediatric dentalorganisations would be advantageous but is not essential.
