Wellington based | Permanent | Full-time 4.4 weeks annual leave | Wellness allowance after 12 months Midpoint of $145,198 dependent on experience What you’ll do Are you an experienced finance professional who enjoys working at the heart of government decision-making? This is an opportunity to influence major investment decisions across the health system, providing strategic financial advice on Budget initiatives, policy proposals, and funding decisions that help improve health outcomes for New Zealanders. You’ll work with senior leaders, Ministers' offices, Treasury, and health sector stakeholders, leading complex financial analysis and shaping advice that directly informs government priorities. Lead Budget and investment advice by coordinating end-to-end financial input into Budget rounds, funding proposals, Cabinet papers, and Ministerial advice. Provide strategic financial analysis through complex costing, modelling, forecasting, and assessment of financial risks to support decision-making. Influence high-profile decisions by providing trusted advice to senior leaders, Ministers, Treasury, and health sector stakeholders. Drive quality and consistency by providing assurance and guidance on financial analysis, business cases, and investment proposals across the Ministry. Build strong partnerships across government and the health sector to support effective financial planning, prioritisation, and delivery of outcomes. What you’ll bring A Chartered Accountant qualification (or tertiary qualification in finance, economics, or a related quantitative discipline), with strong financial analysis and advisory expertise. Experience providing high-quality financial advice, business performance insights, and evidence-based recommendations to support strategic decision‑making. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and build strong relationships across a range of audiences. Proven ability to lead, coach, and collaborate with others while delivering high-quality outcomes in a fast‑paced and complex environment. Strong organisational skills, sound judgement, and an understanding of government processes and public sector financial management frameworks.
