Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a Security Capability, Quality and Training Manager to join the Campus Operations team on a permanent, full-time basis. This roleis responsible fordeveloping and strengthening the University’s physical security capability through quality assurance, training development, process improvement, and operational standards management. You will lead the development of security trainingprogrammes, quality assurance frameworks, performance standards, and continuous improvement initiatives that support safe, inclusive, and welcoming campus environments for students, staff, and visitors. Key responsibilities: Design, develop, implement, andmaintainsecurity trainingprogrammesfor Security Officers, Control Room Operators, University staff, and students. Coordinate onboarding, induction, probation support, competency frameworks, and role-specific learning pathways for security personnel. Develop and deliver safety education, awareness initiatives, orientation activities, and engagementprogrammesthat promote safebehavioursand awareness of security services. Lead the development and maintenance of the Security Quality Assurance Framework, including operational standards, service delivery expectations, and quality measures. Conduct audits, observations, operational reviews, and assurance activities to assess compliance and performance, and support sustainable service improvements. Build effective relationships with Campus Operations, Student Services, VUWSA, contractors, external agencies, and colleagues across the University. You will be anorganised, credible, and relationship-focused professional who can support high-quality security services in a complex university environment. You will bringstrong communicationand facilitation skills, sound judgement, and the ability to translate operational requirements into clear standards, training, and practical guidance. Key requirements: Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage confidently with a wide range of audiences. Excellent written communication skills, including experience preparing reports, procedures, training materials, and operational guidance. Demonstrated understanding and/or experience of adult training techniques. Experience developing, reviewing, and implementing policies, procedures, standards, work instructions, or operational guidance materials. Strong attention to detail, problem-solving capability, and sound analysis and judgement. Proven ability to build andmaintaineffective relationships with operational staff, managers, students, University stakeholders, contractors, and external agencies.
