Electrician: UPS Technician Location: Silverdale, Auckland Our client is a highly reputable and rapidly growing organisation, recognised for delivering excellence across critical infrastructure, commercial, and industrial environments. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced UPS Technician to join their growing team, with the opportunity to progress into an Electrical Team Lead role for the right candidate based on experience, technical capability, and leadership skills. This role is ideally suited to an electrical professional with strong UPS experience, excellent troubleshooting capability, and a passion for working with complex critical power systems. Position Summary The UPS Technician will be responsible for providing specialist technical support across UPS systems and associated critical power infrastructure. The successful candidate will perform preventative and reactive maintenance, fault diagnosis, installations, upgrades, testing, and commissioning activities across a range of commercial and industrial environments. This role requires someone who can operate independently, confidently troubleshoot complex technical issues, and deliver high-quality outcomes for customers. Key Responsibilities UPS Systems & Critical Power Provide specialist technical expertise across UPS systems and critical power infrastructure. Perform preventative and reactive maintenance on UPS systems and associated battery systems. Diagnose and resolve complex UPS faults, alarms, and system issues. Carry out battery testing, inspections, replacements, and performance assessments. Complete UPS installations, upgrades, replacements, and commissioning activities. Perform system testing, verification, and reporting in line with manufacturer requirements and industry standards. Provide technical recommendations to improve system reliability, performance, and asset lifecycle outcomes. Maintain strong knowledge of UPS technologies, manufacturers, and industry best practices. Electrical Maintenance & Technical Support Complete electrical maintenance, repairs, and installations as required. Undertake detailed electrical fault finding and troubleshooting. Support critical fault response and emergency service activities. Assist with infrastructure upgrades, renewals, and improvement projects. Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard of workmanship. Customer Service & Reporting Build strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and stakeholders. Provide professional specialist technical advice and solutions. Complete accurate service reports, testing documentation, and compliance records. Identify opportunities to improve system performance and reduce customer downtime. What We're Looking For Electrical qualification and relevant industry experience. Proven experience working with UPS systems and critical power infrastructure. Strong fault-finding, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills. Experience with UPS servicing, maintenance, testing, commissioning, or installations. Ability to work independently and manage customer-facing responsibilities. Strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement. Experience with leading UPS manufacturers, battery systems, data centres, industrial environments, or critical infrastructure will be highly regarded.
