About the Role: As a Board Member, you will provide strategic oversight, governance, and thought leadership to support Doughnut Economics Advocates NZ’s mission and long-term viability. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a purpose-driven organisation operating at the intersection of community development, sustainability, and systems change. The Board is currently focusing on an organisational reset, and new members will play a pivotal role in establishing our strategy for the next 3+ years. You will work collaboratively with fellow board members, guide decision-making, ensure accountability, and support our Repair Café and Doughnut Hub managers to expand our reach and influence. About Doughnut Economics Advocates New Zealand (DEANZ): We are passionate about making a tangible difference in waste minimisation and sustainable living. We run a series of monthly Repair Cafés across Auckland and maintain 3 Doughnut Hubs—composting and gardening hubs based at local schools. For the general Board roles we are seeking skills and experience in one or more of the following: Community-building sectors (e.g., repair networks, parents and teachers networks, grassroots initiatives, social enterprises) Community level grant funding Education and learning environments Public policy, regulatory frameworks, or local government Activism, advocacy, or political engagement Waste minimisation and knowledge of Doughnut Economics Time commitment: Meetings are typically for 1 hour each month either in person or online with approximately an additional 4-8 hours per month as required.
